AFFILIATION FORMS & SPORTS AWARDS NOMINATIONS 2014

•March 22, 2014 • Leave a Comment

It’s that time of year again folks.  Please renew your membership of Sutherland Sports Council by Friday 30 May 2014.  The forms required can be downloaded from the Forms & Documents section.  Membership stays the same price – £15 for clubs and £5 for individual members.

In addition, the sports awards ceremony is likely to take place in August but please note all nominations should be sent back by Friday 30 May 2014.  Again the forms are available in the Forms & Documents section.  The committee would also like clubs to consider nominating individuals for a new Vintage Sports Award.  The criteria is someone over 40 who has done something remarkable in sport, currently or in the past.

As in the previous few years, funding the Sutherland Sports Council receives from Highland Council is likely to be reduced once more. Therefore, applicants should be aware of the tightening constraints on the committee. Having said that proper consideration will be given to all applications by qualifying clubs and individuals.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued membership of SSC and would strongly urge you to nominate people worthy of gaining the sports awards listed.

Service to Sports Award 2012

•September 1, 2012 • Leave a Comment
Hi All,
Having got over the shock of receiving the (Service to Sports) award, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all members both present and past for the gesture, without the enthusiasm and assistance of the Sutherland Sports Council, I would not have been able to provide the chance for the young (and not so young) to participate in some of the adventure sports in our area.
Looking back over the years to a time when as a youngster I was taken on a school ski trip to Aviemore  with Norrie Brown, my love for outdoor adventure was whetted, I only hope that I have been able to pass on some of my enthusiasm to another generation, I even recall Suzanne coming on a Golspie school ski trip, and some of the Dornoch pupils we took to Italy skiing, who now have secondary school age children of their own.
I have been fortunate in being able to ski many of the worlds top ski resorts, climb some classic mountains, kayak some of Europe’s top white water, sail to the remotest of the British Isles, cycle to the remotest of glens,  all thanks to those early introductions to sport in Golspie High School.
It gives me great pleasure to see the people who, in a small way I have introduced to adventure, excel in their chosen sport and careers.
I hope to continue to serve as a member of Sutherland Sports Council, and again thank you for the most generous gesture, but feel that there were many more deserving recipients within the county, who have made a more valuable contribution to sports than I.
With best Wishes
John (Ross)

It’s that time of year again folks.  You must renew your membership of Sutherland Sports Council by Thursday 31 May 2012.  The forms required can also be downloaded from here within the Forms & Documents section on the right hand side of the page.  Membership stays the same price – £15 for clubs and £5 for individual members.

In line with many other areas, the funding the Sutherland Sports Council receives from Highland Council has been reduced by 20%. The Highland Council guidelines have not changed so applicants should be aware of the tightening constraints on the committee. Having said that proper consideration will be given to all applications by qualifying clubs and individuals.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued membership of SSC and would strongly urge you to nominate people worthy of gaining the enclosed awards.
